We are kicking around some ideas for the fall so I would like your feedback. We are thinking about offering DIY workshops (do it yourself) including things like Brows 101, Bright eyes, learning how to conceal and line the eye area, blending shadow, application of blush, the list can go on. I would love to hear from you about this idea, would you come? Do you have any thoughts or interest in learning things? What day and times work for you? I want to share with you something a client brought to my attention, something I have been saying for a year. Fox 5 news had a segment on "Can Your Manicure Give You Cancer" The UV lights used to dry your nails is like going tanning. So way back I suggested you turn the light off and just use the air. This doesn't help for anyone getting Gel manicures. I'm not saying and they are not saying you need to run out of the salon and worry you have cancer, having said that the reason I talked about it a year ago was because I started treating so many clients hands with Glycolic peels because they just started looking old to them and some were developing brown spots. I blame this on #1 anti-bacterial soap which I do not recommend and #2 the UV lights in nail salons. It is also a spot that people forget to put sun block. It is no secret that I am not a fan of these nail salons popping up one block away from each other on every corner. I question their training, in my day you had to learn what a nail fungus was, how not to cause them, and what to do for them. What I see now is nail fungus on hands and feet and people continuing to have manicures and pedicures with the fungus. When these manicurist see a fungus ( I'm not sure they even know it's fungus) they recommend gels! At one time this was a luxury it was not an inexpensive thing to do. Today children as young as 5 are having manicures and pedicures and being exposed at such a young age to chemicals.
Here are a few things that "Matter to Me"
Rejvacote nail strengthening base and top coat is great to grow nails. I do get my nails done by a manicurist that has been manicuring for 30 years and only does natural nails. This is the product she recommends. It works!I get my hair done at Wabi Sabi salon in Sea Cliff as most of you know Christina uses an Italian hair color product called Tocco Magico the product leaves your hair so shinny and healthy that if those gray hairs didn't grow back you wouldn't know you colored your hair!
Years ago a client suggested I read a book that she thought I would relate to because the authors parent was from the same place in Italy my grandparents were from. Well as most of you know Adriana Trigiani is the author and she is such a fun and delightful read she is an Italian American writer but I will tell you, you do not have to be Italian to enjoy her.The last thing I will share is my favorite
personal Chef. I have to say if I could this would be something I could get use
to... especially this guy. Chef Jean-Yves Piquet . His background is amazing The
University Club & Le Cirque. He will charge a reasonable Chef fee (mention
me) plus the cost of food. On big birthdays I like to do what I love and share
it with friends and family. My 40th was a sleep over and I hired a massage
therapist and a manicurist for all me guest. It was so fun. So my 50th I decided
that what I love to do is entertain at home with friends and family, so hiring a
Chef and having my closest friends around my table was so special. My friends
and I are planning to have him for a dinner and split the cost so we can be at
home, relax and not feel rushed out of a restaurant. My usual line when we meet
friends for dinner is I'm home before my lipstick wears off... When I entertain
at home I get to re-apply it!
