Self care is an absolute necessity! There is no question that self care improves your health. Self care on the inside as well as the outside. Wouldn't you rather make time for you then make doctor appointments...I think so. Set time aside to take care of your skin. Do a daily skin care ritual day and night. I'll bet you're clearing out your winter things and spring cleaning! Am I right? We clean our homes, our windows, our garden beds, and our closets to make room for the change of season. Different clothes, different plants, possibly different window treatments and bedding. We even change our diet! Well don't stop there, you need to clean out those pores and change up that skin care. Here are a few important Do's & Don'ts
take hot showers
let the shampoo or body wash you use get on your face
use anything other than warm water to wash
use a toner with too much alcohol
go to bed without washing and moisturizing
apply serum under moisturizer
wear some type of foundation for protection
have facials more often
eat hydrating foods
apply body moisturizer every day
use different products from summer to winter

We've talked about how important a skin care routine is and how turning that routine into a ritual is key. Once again the season is changing, so is your skin and so should your routine. If your routine is Cleanse, Tone, Treatment, Eye Cream, Serum, Moisturize, Protect...some changes might look like this, milder cleanser and toner, heavier moisturizer for the colder months and maybe a heavier eye cream in the evening. If you Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize you will need to use heavier moisturizer at least at night if not day and night. If you are using the same moisturizer all year round then I suggest adding a serum in the winter under the moisturizer for added hydration. As always SPF is an all year round product for daytime!
Let's talk about Cleansers and Toner. Everyone has a personal preference when it comes to cleansers. I love a creamy cleanser, others like gels some like oils. Your cleanser needs to remove makeup completely, soften the skin and clean the pores. Your skin should not feel dry or tight after cleansing. You should be using warm water not hot. The reason for a toner is to balance the PH of the skin (which is 5.5) and to remove any trace dirt or makeup left on the skin after cleansing. For anyone who does not feel clean after using a cleanser because you like the tight dry feeling soap gives you the toner can help you feel cleaner. I personally like toner but today most cleanser are PH balanced so if skipping a step works better for you this would be the step to skip. Using soap (bad choice) can strip away the protective acid mantle on the skin. When doing that it leaves your skin open to bacterial invasion if this happens your skin can break out or dry out. Another thing to keep in mind is too much water and very hot water can do this as well.
Let november be the month you start preparing your skin for the harsh elements winter brings to our skin. Finding the best products and the best routine that works for you is key. Gone are those make-up free summer days! It's Fall let's have some fun. Here's a question for you. What makes you feel beautiful? Just something to think about...I personally love making you look and feel beauty-full.
Let's talk a bit about the make-up for this fall season. In this blog post you will hear me talk about Bio-individuality and I am going to apply that to talking about the make-up for this season. We look in magazines and on the fashion runways and we see all kinds of looks. From blue shadow to green shadow and even red shadow...every color cheek with harsh drawn lines to hollowed out cheeks and lip colors that either scream at you or you can't even see them. What will work for you? That's what matters here not what's trending. But I will challenge you to try something new and different, hey you never know. Maybe you want to change the eyeliner color you wear or maybe you just want to apply it differently. Maybe you want to try a bold lip if you wear nude or vice versa. I will encourage everyone to find a RED lipstick that works for you. Yours could be on the blue side or the orange side or the pink side. Could be soft or bold, or glossy or matte...could be what makes you a little uncomfortable and that's sometimes a good thing! "DO ONE THING EVERYDAY THAT SCARES YOU" here's a tip when wearing a dark lipstick, line a little outside the lip line and apply the lipstick with a lip brush. Dark lips will make your lips appear smaller and if it's very dark applying it with a brush will make it go on even and precise.

The simple answer for younger looking skin is start early.
Don't do the wait and see thing, wrinkles are coming that's for sure.There is so much product out there it can be overwhelming. That's why you have me!
There is nothing wrong with face lifts and fillers but that is not skincare. I can't comprehend someone spending all that time and money having that done and not caring about the products they put on their skin. No procedure gives you glowing healthy skin. For that matter no skin care product can do it all alone. Skin issues are directly related to gut issues. YOUR WORLD IS ON YOUR PLATE...look at the food you eat it is all connected. Look at your lifestyle and your mindset and thoughts. It's all connected. When your gut bacteria is off your skin will appear dull or worse yet you experience rashes, eczema, rosacea, and or acne. Starve your gut of bad bugs eat pre and probiotics, take probiotics. Eat healthy fiber. All this will help rebalance your good flora.
