I'll bet you're clearing out your winter things and spring cleaning! Am I right? We clean our homes, our windows, our garden beds, and our closets to make room for the change of season. Different clothes, different plants, possibly different window treatments and bedding. We even change our diet! Well don't stop there, you need to clean out those pores and change up that skin care. Exfoliate dead, dry, winter skin off, apply a lighter moisturizer in the summer months, and if need be a higher SPF then you used all winter. Please tell me you use SPF year round. Same goes for make-up... lighten it up, change your blush and lipstick colors maybe add a bronzer. Because I know you are not tanning that face! Preparing for nice weather is so uplifting and so is taking care of yourself. There is no greater gift you can give to yourself or anyone else for that matter but the best version of you. So do your "Spring Cleaning / Clearing" inside and out on you as well as your environment. Maybe its time to book that facial and add a peel, or maybe it's time for that make-over, you may just need a skincare consult, and maybe you are ready to make all around changes and want to book a health coaching session... whichever works for you just make that appointment now. GOOD SKIN DOESN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE. IT HAPPENS BY APPOINTMENT

Lets get to your winter skin... Is it ok? Is it dull? Is it dry? Is it anything other than it should be? Which is clear and bright.
Here are a few important Do's & Don'ts
take hot showers
let the shampoo or body wash you use get on your face
use anything other than warm water to wash
use a toner with too much alcohol
go to bed without washing and moisturizing
apply serum under moisturizer
wear some type of foundation for protection
have facials more often
eat hydrating foods
apply body moisturizer every day
use different products from summer to winter
If you feel you need to add a serum to your skin care ritual now is the time...
Enjoy 30% off one serum this month.
Have you had a Gua Sha Treatment...Chinese Botox / Yoga for your face. The results are amazing and the treatment is for all skin types. In salon treatments or do it at home.
In need of a makeover??? New Year New You! Set up an appointment from now until the end of February Make-overs are $75.00. You can pay that and bring your own make-up or you can buy $100.00 worth of make up and the application is Free.
We've talked about how important a skin care routine is and how turning that routine into a ritual is key. Once again the season is changing, so is your skin and so should your routine. If your routine is Cleanse, Tone, Treatment, Eye Cream, Serum, Moisturize, Protect...some changes might look like this, milder cleanser and toner, heavier moisturizer for the colder months and maybe a heavier eye cream in the evening. If you Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize you will need to use heavier moisturizer at least at night if not day and night. If you are using the same moisturizer all year round then I suggest adding a serum in the winter under the moisturizer for added hydration. As always SPF is an all year round product for daytime!
Let's talk about Cleansers and Toner. Everyone has a personal preference when it comes to cleansers. I love a creamy cleanser, others like gels some like oils. Your cleanser needs to remove makeup completely, soften the skin and clean the pores. Your skin should not feel dry or tight after cleansing. You should be using warm water not hot. The reason for a toner is to balance the PH of the skin (which is 5.5) and to remove any trace dirt or makeup left on the skin after cleansing. For anyone who does not feel clean after using a cleanser because you like the tight dry feeling soap gives you the toner can help you feel cleaner. I personally like toner but today most cleanser are PH balanced so if skipping a step works better for you this would be the step to skip. Using soap (bad choice) can strip away the protective acid mantle on the skin. When doing that it leaves your skin open to bacterial invasion if this happens your skin can break out or dry out. Another thing to keep in mind is too much water and very hot water can do this as well.
Let november be the month you start preparing your skin for the harsh elements winter brings to our skin. Finding the best products and the best routine that works for you is key. Don't buy it if your not going to use it. Find what works best for you. Are you a 3 product person or are you like me 8-10 products??? Let's discuss it before old man winter comes after us!
Be You - Be Beauty-Full
use the contact us page if you have any questions for me and want to be added to our newsletter email.
Gone are those make-up free summer days! It's Fall let's have some fun. Here's a question for you. What makes you feel beautiful? Just something to think about...I personally love making you look and feel beauty-full.
Let's talk a bit about the make-up for this fall season. In this blog post you will hear me talk about Bio-individuality and I am going to apply that to talking about the make-up for this season. We look in magazines and on the fashion runways and we see all kinds of looks. From blue shadow to green shadow and even red shadow...every color cheek with harsh drawn lines to hollowed out cheeks and lip colors that either scream at you or you can't even see them. What will work for you? That's what matters here not what's trending. But I will challenge you to try something new and different, hey you never know. Maybe you want to change the eyeliner color you wear or maybe you just want to apply it differently. Maybe you want to try a bold lip if you wear nude or vice versa. I will encourage everyone to find a RED lipstick that works for you. Yours could be on the blue side or the orange side or the pink side. Could be soft or bold, or glossy or matte...could be what makes you a little uncomfortable and that's sometimes a good thing! "DO ONE THING EVERYDAY THAT SCARES YOU" here's a tip when wearing a dark lipstick, line a little outside the lip line and apply the lipstick with a lip brush. Dark lips will make your lips appear smaller and if it's very dark applying it with a brush will make it go on even and precise.
In the words of George Burns..
YOUNG. OLD. JUST WORDS.
I agree so keep your thinking young and your skincare on point!
What works best:
1: Commit to SPF everyday all year round and use a skin resurfacer in your skincare regimen.
2: SPF in your makeup is not enough unless it's a 30
3: MOST IMPORTANT...APPLY SPF LIKE IT'S YOUR JOB! THIS IS THE #1 ANTI-AGING PRODUCT ON THE MARKET
The simple answer for younger looking skin is start early.
Don't do the wait and see thing, wrinkles are coming that's for sure. There is so much product out there it can be overwhelming. That's why you have me!
There is nothing wrong with face lifts and fillers but that is not skincare. I can't comprehend someone spending all that time and money having that done and not caring about the products they put on their skin. No procedure gives you glowing healthy skin. For that matter no skin care product can do it all alone. Skin issues are directly related to gut issues. YOUR WORLD IS ON YOUR PLATE...look at the food you eat it is all connected. Look at your lifestyle and your mindset and thoughts. It's all connected. When your gut bacteria is off your skin will appear dull or worse yet you experience rashes, eczema, rosacea, and or acne. Starve your gut of bad bugs eat pre and probiotics, take probiotics. Eat healthy fiber. All this will help rebalance your good flora.
EAT YOUR WATER, EAT YOUR VITAMINS, EAT THE RAINBOW
Vitamin C - antioxidant, immune builder:
Citrus Fruits, Red Pepper, Kiwi, Broccoli, Potatoes, Brussels sprouts, Cranberries, Strawberries, Cauliflower
B12 - nerve function & healthy blood cells animals produce B12 so for vegetarians / vegans be sure to get enough.
Liver, Oysters, Clams, Salmon, Trout, Beef, Eggs, Fortified Foods
Vitamin D - necessary for bone health (fat soluble vitamin this needs to be taken in the presence of fat to properly absorb)
Eggs, Liver, Fish, Butter, Fortified Milk, and some Mushrooms
Magnesium - bone health
Spinach, Tofu, Peas, Almonds, Cashews, Whole Grains, Swiss Chard, Bran Cereal, Wheat Germ, Black Beans, Kidney beans, Pumpkin Seeds, Flaxseeds, Cocoa
Calcium - bone health (absorption is boosted by Vitamin D)
Milk, Yogurt, Cheese, Collard Greens, Bok Choy, Kale, Spinach, Tofu, Sardines, Clams
EAT A COLORFUL DIET...LIVE A COLORFUL LIFE
Bio-individuality again in skincare, makeup, and food everyone is different. One persons food is another persons poison...as with skincare.
WATER: THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE
It's cleansing and hydrating.
it is a must in everyones life absolutely for your skin health as well as your health in general. Find your balance again bio-individuality we all need a different amount of water find yours!
STAY HAPPY- STAY HEALTHY - STAY BEAUTIFUL
BECAUSE YOU ARE!
XO CARPE DIEM
Get ready to shed some clothes and protect your skin while doing so. Hopefully the day getting longer allows you time to relax and enjoy it not fill the longer day with busy things that will eventually just exhaust you. Take time to slow down and do what makes you happy. We know exercise is good for us, some say bike riding is great, yoga is amazing...all of that is true if that is how something makes you feel. Truth is it's not all that good for you if you don't love it. Granted we have to exercise and stay fit to stay healthy but find something you really love so it fills you with contentment. You will have a better chance of sticking with something you love and that will be what keeps you healthy.
Summer is a time when we tend to eat lighter and add more water and fruit to our diets. Be mindful of how you feel as you eat. Be careful not to consume fruit juices for example apple juice has just as much sugar as soda as most fruit juices do...juice is soda without the bubbles. So be sure to have the natural fruit or maybe make your own fruit juices. Read labels if you buy pre made juice and check the sugar content. Buy organic if you can.
Sun protection: Please don't think you shouldn't wear sunblock because you need Vitamin D it's imporatnt to know it is the UVB rays that help us generate Vitamin D. Also known as the burning rays. UVA rays are the cause of aging and skin cancers. UVB rays only hit you when the sun is at a certain angle so basically that happens in the middle of the day to receive your dose of Vitamin D. Remember the damage from the UVA happens anytime. You can get your daily dose of Vitamin D in the middle of the day and before your skin turns pink. Most important use a chemical free sunblock. As per Dr. Frank Lipman the inexpensive SunFriend wristband can help you monitor your exposure and warn you when to cover up. He also recommends testing your Vitamin D levels twice a year spring and fall are ideal. Remember UVA rays penetrate windows.
Sleep! When your sleep is off know it's a clue that something is off in your body and it or your lifestyle needs attention. Sleep is not a luxury, this will keep your brain sharp and youthful. We all feel the same about staying YOUTHFUL now don't we. Sleeping is when your body repairs, restores, maintains, and detoxifies itself. When it comes to using penetrating creams like night cream they have a better chance of penetrating when your skin is at rest and not fighting off free radicals by day.
Cell phones can disrupt our sleep and promote aging to the skin from the blue light. Wear blue light protection sunblock and blue light protection glasses!
What you put in your body is just as if not more important as what you put on your body. I am all about the ritual. Cleanse, tone, eye cream, protect by day. Cleanse, tone, exfoliate, eye cream, night cream every day. Extra exfoliation and masking too. Clean food and hydrate everyday. Clean positive thoughts and forgiveness everyday. Crowd out the toxins...Food, thoughts, people. The way to do this is to replace the toxins with healthy good skin care, food, thoughts, and people. Crowding out makes less room for the toxins. Make the connection make the changes look at you skincare and your food and your tribe. Take them seriously it all matters.
MIND - BODY - SPIRIT
Here we go again... Noreaster #4... Oh and Happy Spring!
Don't get discouraged it's coming!!!! In the meantime I personally do a peel and a mask every snow day so my skin is reaping the benefits for sure this Winter. Everyone really needs a form of exfoliation for their skin. My snow day savings to you is 20% off any product of your choice. Maybe this is the time to be sure you have the correct exfoliator for your skin...but if that's not how you want to use your 20% off that's fine with me. Enjoy! Stay Safe, Hydrated & Exfoliated!
I think we can all agree that 2018 needs to be about you! Your skin, your health, and your thoughts... What a great combination. The new year is always a good time to start thinking about how you want to improve you. What matters most to you and how and when are you going to start putting your thoughts and ideas into action!
GREAT SKIN DOESN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE IT HAPPENS BY APPOINTMENT
I'll start by getting your skin care routine under way. Let's start with a SSSP "STAR STUDDED SKIN PLAN" I'm always reading about how the stars take care of their skin. They have facials every ten days - two weeks... Who wouldn't love that. So maybe we can find a routine that works for you. Facials are recommended once a month, reason being it's important to rid your skin of dead skin cells for your skin to look it's best. Daily use of a glycol acid and or a vitamin c product is recommended if your skin requires it. Peels and mask are very helpful usually once a week sometimes more again depending on your skin type.
Here is what a SSSP can look like,
Monthly facial that includes exfoliation and an eye treatment. What you do between the facials will make all the difference. Let me give you a few suggestions.
*Weekly peels in between your monthly facials.
*Peel, mask, and eye treatment 2 weeks after your facial then 2 weeks later your facial again.
If coming into the salon for treatments isn't an option your home care needs to include nightly cleansing, regular exfoliations, and masks.
Let me know what works for you and we will customize a salon or home program just for you!
This alone will not give you the best skin possible. Diet, exercise, and stress reducing programs need to be a part of this.
You can start achieving a youthful look by making some of these changes as well... start immediately by wearing sunblock all year round and drinking water. Exfoliate and hydrate your skin, lips, neck, chest, and hands. Nothing screams youthful louder then great lashes, hydrated lips, and well shaped brows. Another important part of great looking skin is the correct hair color and style. Last but not least... sleep!
I am introducing LED light therapy to our menu this year. Light Emitting Diode, you may have heard of red light therapy for fine lines and collagen building or blue light therapy for acne. This is a non invasive treatment that has a cumulative effect on the skin. Some refer to it as Yoga for the face!
Lets talk about make-up and a few new products.
We now have pre-filled shadow case that will make your morning go just a bit easier.
Application of make up is something that needs to be taught. You might want a makeup lesson to learn how to apply it and what you should use to apply it.
You my have the ability to apply make up and not have the proper tools. You may need a lesson in Brushes. Maybe you just need to find the correct base or that perfect every day lip color. Maybe you want to wear red lipstick... let's try it! YOLO
Brows brows and more brows... Grow them, fill them in, color them whatever you have to do to achieve the perfect frame for your eyes lets do it together! Brows are everything. I can't say enough about GrandeLash, GrandeBrow, and GrandeLip.These are a few of my favorite things. That list is coming...
Skin care... Cleanse diligently everyday do it twice if you have to. Do a really good job at night and you can just rinse in the morning.Washing in the morning and not at night is NOT an option. Toner, use this after cleansing to balance the ph level of your skin. Eye cream do this day and night if you are over 25! There are no oil glands around the eyes keep that skin protected with eye cream only not face moisturizer. Treatment, use a glycol, a retinol, or a vitamin c product under moisturizer day and night if your skin requires this. Moisturize day and night! Spf in the day not at night. Sunblock is a must everyday all year round.
Have a skin consult if you are not a regular facial client so you can be sure you are using what's best for your skin.
